Thank you for your interest in becoming a candidate in the 2026 City of Maricopa election. The City is represented by the Mayor and six Councilmembers. The Mayor and Councilmembers are elected at-large and serve four-year terms. Elections are scheduled in the fall of even-numbered years. Electors will consider candidates for 3 Councilmember seats in the Primary Election, to be held on August 4, 2026 and if necessary, a runoff election will be held on November 3, 2026. Newly elected officials will take office at the first regularly scheduled Council meeting in December, following the general election, which will be held on December 1, 2026.

Candidates are required to obtain between 439 and 878 signatures to appear on the ballot. Nomination signatures are due between March 7, 2026 and April 6, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Candidates must file a Statement of Interest prior to collecting their first nomination petition signature.

Nomination packets containing all of the necessary forms for run for office will be available in the Fall of 2025. 

Please note that the Maricopa City Clerk serves as the filing officer for all local election forms. All forms must be filed, within the deadlines noted, with the Maricopa City Clerk.
