Paramedics treat patient with helicopter in the backgroundOur duty is to protect and preserve human life in the event of a trauma-related incident or serious medical condition. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responds by assessing, treating, stabilizing, and transporting patients until definitive medical care is available at an appropriate facility. Each engine and ladder company is staffed by Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT)-Basics and Paramedics who are certified by the Arizona Department of Health Services and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
