Home MenuCamera Registration Program
The City of Maricopa Police Department wants your help fighting crime by participating in the Camera Registration Program. More so, your camera could be what helps officers close a case.
The program allows residents and businesses to register the locations of their video surveillance systems within the city. When a crime occurs, police can identify nearby video cameras and enlist the community's assistance to help officers collect video evidence and follow up on leads.
Occasionally, an MPD officer or detective would contact you if a crime occurred in your area. They would then ask you to check your video surveillance system for a specific date and time for video that may show activity connected to their investigation, such as a certain car or the direction a person of interest was headed. If video is located, it is up to your discretion to share that with MPD.
Registering your information does NOT provide MPD direct access to your camera(s).
Step-by-Step Guide to Registering for the Program
Online Surveillance Camera Policy:
Registration is voluntary and there is no cost associated with registration. Registering your information does NOT provide MPD with direct access to your camera. You may delete your registration at any time by completing this form. An individual’s personal information will be kept confidential by the City unless subject to disclosure by court order or in accordance with Arizona public records law. Your information will be accessed by law enforcement personnel who are investigating a crime in the vicinity of where your camera is located. You will only be contacted by the Maricopa Police Department in the future if there is a criminal incident in the vicinity of your security camera. Police personnel, if necessary, may request a copy of any video captured by your camera, which may assist in the investigation of a crime.
