Volunteer

The library is always looking for dependable volunteers. To volunteer at the library, you must be 16 years or older. Simply fill out the application form in the link below and return it to the circulation desk. The volunteer coordinator will contact you within 2 weeks.

Library volunteers can assist in these activities:

• Shelving
• Library programs for all age groups
• Reading to children in the Star Reader Program
• Special Events
• Special Projects
• Homebound Delivery Driver

Join Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Maricopa Library and Cultural Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and enhancing the library. The group raises funds to support literacy programs and other library activities. Friends volunteers host  book sales throughout the year, and other fund raising activities. Gently used books are available for purchase from the Friends of the Library book nook located in the library.

Donate

The library accepts donations of books, CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays and video games. All donated items should be in good condition. The library does not accept newspapers, textbooks, or periodicals as donations. Please only drop off donations during the Library's regular hours of operation. Donations are accepted at the front desk. Please do not leave donations after hours or place them in the Library's drop box.

Monetary donations can be made through the Maricopa Community Foundation. The Maricopa Community Foundation created the Maricopa Library and Cultural Center Designated Fund to be used for free programming at the library. Donations made on behalf of the library fund are memorialized on the donor star wall to recognize foundation supporters.

Why should you consider volunteering?

The City of Maricopa offers many opportunities for volunteers to help build our city and provide services.  Volunteers are needed at the Community - Senior Center, Maricopa Public Library, parks, events and many other areas.  You can click the button below to apply. All applicants must submit a background check.

The Maricopa Police Cadet Program is designed for youth in Maricopa aged 14 to 20 years of age. It is designed to educate, grow leadership skills, build self-confidence, and dedication to service within the community.

Program participants spend two hours each week attending meeting; doing physical activity, law enforcement-specific education, and police-based scenarios. Some of the education is done by officers with specific skill sets such as SWAT, K9, DUI Enforcement, and many others. 

In addition to growing their skills, Cadet participants will have the opportunity to complete community service hours volunteering at city events in Cadet uniform. 

The Maricopa Police Cadet Program allows youth to have inside access and perspective to what police officers, dispatchers and police volunteers do on a daily basis. It is designed to show the impact of law enforcement and that “we is greater than I.”
